Reformát

Reformat was created as a Bachelor’s dissertation work at the University of Art Jana Evangelista Purkyně in Ustí nad Labem in June 2013. At the moment there are two women behind the project, Sara Bergmann and another student of the same university, Michaela Klihavcová. The projekt is focused on recycling used or unused materials, specially paper. The material is used to create different types of notebooks, diaries, photo albums, wrapping paper and many other paper products.
The keyword of the project is “second-hand paper shop”, or in other words, second hand stationers. One of the key parts of production process is finding suitable material, sorting it out and designing a product from it. The material is found not only in different storage units, printing houses, studios, offices etc., but also from other sources such as friends and antique shops. Thus the forgotten or unneeded object gets a second chance, becoming part of a new product. This means that each new product is unique and carries with it a story hidden in the reused material.

“As graphic designers, we often realized the amount of paper that is produced and later ends up in the garbage. At that moment we started to think of a way to recycle and reuse it. So we started to make notebooks, diaries and many other products from it.”
